2014 End of the Year Survey

Since it seems to be a theme that I do this every year, here we go!

Year-End Survey 2014

Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don’t remember specifically making any for 2014, but I’d like to make more for 2015. I’ve got some goals in mind!

Did anyone close to you give birth? A few friends had babies this year, and a few more found out they were pregnant!

Did anyone close to you die? No, thankfully.

What countries did you visit?
 None. 😦

What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
I’d love to have a house. And be done with school finally (again) so I can get a school counseling job.

What date from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? I don’t think I had any “big dates” in 2014 that will remain with me. I have lots of good memories but no real whammy like 2013.

What was your biggest achievement of the year? Umm…making it through another 2 semesters without going crazy. Does that count?

What was your biggest failure?
 I don’t even know.

Did you suffer illness or injury? No big injuries – and just the flu for illnesses. Nothing major.

What was the best thing you bought?
My kitty, Oli. Technically I “bought” him since I had to pay for the adoption, I guess.

Where did most of your money go?

What did you get really, really, really excited about? Missy’s wedding, any time I was able to go home and see my family and friends.

What song(s) will always remind you of 2014? “I Choose You” by Sara Barielles, “Shake it Off” by Taylor Swift.

Compared to this time last year, are you:

  • happier or sadder? — Probably about the same. Depends on the day.
  • richer or poorer? — poorer.

What do you wish you’d done more?
Spoke my mind more, opened up more, and had more fun.

What do you wish you’d done less of? Homework.

What was your favorite TV program? I’m really into Scandal, House of Cards, and Orange is the New Black

Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No, I don’t generally hate people.

What was the best book you read?
Oooh man…is it bad I can’t remember any good books I read this year? 😦

What was your greatest musical discovery?
Some of my favorites I just started listening to this year are: Dessa

What did you want and get?

What was your favorite film of this year? I saw a lot of good movies this year.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 26 this year. My boyfriend brought be birthday lunch at work, we went on a hike after, and I was surprised by my co-workers with dinner and drinks.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
I like to be comfortable – but I pretty much dress like a teacher.

What kept you sane?
 Running/working and my friends.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Jennifer Lawrence

What political issue stirred you the most?
I feel like there were so many things, but I generally avoided the news and kept myself ignorant.

Who did you miss? I miss my friends and family that I don’t get to see very often.

Who was the best new person you met?
Did I meet anyone new this year? Probably not…

What was the nicest thing someone told you about yourself. That I’m a good person.

The most touching experience you’ve had this year?
Seeing how excited my niece gets to see me after we’ve been apart for awhile. <– same

What did you like most about yourself this year? That I helped others.

What did you hate most about yourself this year? That I sacrificed a lot about myself and had trouble asking for what I wanted. Won’t say I “hate” that but it’s something I need to work on.

Was 2014 a good year for you? 2014 was a crazy year. It’s been really stressful.

What was your favorite moment of the year? All of the times I’ve been able to spend with the people I care about.

What was your least favorite moment of the year? Moving again.

Where were you when 2013 began? I was sleeping – had to work at 7am on New Years Day.

Who were you with?
 I was alone.

Do you have a new years resolution for 2015?
Yep – keep working on my health, happiness, and faith. I’m going to do another jar of “good memories” as well. I did that in 2013 and it was really fun.

What was your favorite month of 2014? May and November

Did you miss anybody in the past year?
Of course – I always miss the people I don’t get to see very often.

How many concerts did you see in 2014? Timeflies, Turnpike Troubadours, and Gavin DeGraw/Matt Nathanson.

Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2014?
No – I don’t really go out or drink much anymore.

How much money did you spend in 2014?
I don’t even want to think about it.

What was your proudest moment of 2014?
Seeing how happy Missy was at her wedding and feeling so blessed to be a part of it.

What was your most embarrassing moment of 2014?
 I don’t really get embarrassed.

If you could go back in time to any moment of 2014 and change something, what would it be? Everything happens for a reason, so I wouldn’t change a thing that’s happened in the past year.

What are your plans for 2015?
Finishing school AGAIN and hopefully getting a job!

How are you different now that the year has ended? I’m more stressed out and crabby than I’ve been in awhile. I feel like I’m also more serious and less fun. Basically 2014 made me a bore. Haha.

send me a sign

I’ve been struggling lately. I’ve been really stressed out and my mind always seems to be running at a million miles per hour. Basically ever since I moved here, I’ve wanted to find a church here that I feel comfortable in, and so far I’ve attended one a couple times. I’m hoping that my insides will settle down a little bit if I can start to feel more settled. We’ll see. Last week, I was having a rough night and as I was praying I asked God for a sign. Just a sign or a hint as to what I should do to help myself feel better. As soon as I finished, like literally less than 10 seconds after I said “amen” my phone vibrated that I got a message on Facebook . It was just one of those forwards, but this is how it started, “Dear God, the sweet girl reading this is kind and I’m proud of her. Please help her live life to the fullest and bless her in her chosen field…” Whoa. A reminder of the wonderful people I have in my life who care about me and I can turn to when I’m struggling.

A few days later, I truly believe I got my sign. In the form of a literal sign. God is funny that way. Despite this, I’m still scared and can’t stop running through a million scenarios in my head. PLUS, then that makes me feel horrible. I ask God for a sign, I’m given it, and then I’m too scared to acknowledge it. Eeesh. But then I came home and experienced several other things that could also be interpreted as signs, but that would lead me in the complete opposite direction, with no further glimpses of that first original slap in the face. So long story short, I continue to be confused, unsure, and stressed.

My semester ends tomorrow, so I’m hoping that will help some. Otherwise I’m considering just holing up in my house and sleeping all day with the kitties.
