drives me crazy!

Day 8 – Biggest pet peeve

  • Slow drivers
  • Dirty dishes that don’t get rinsed off
  • When trash is left right on the counter by the trash can
  • When people are late
  • Bad spelling/grammar
  • Clothes left all over the floor
  • When people talk during movies at the theater
  • Bad listeners
  • When people wear outside shoes at the gym and make a mess everywhere

Ok, so maybe this was more than one. Annnnd I might have many more. That might mean I’m a mega B-word. 😦

pretty much all the time… sorry not sorry

dream job

Day 7 – What’s your dream job?

I think I missed a day…. but I’m really excited to talk about this topic today. That’s because I’m so lucky to be doing my dream job every day! I’m a School Counselor and it’s run, challenging, heart-breaking, rewarding, and so much more. All of those things every single day. If you would have asked me 10 years ago if I’d be a School Counselor I would have laughed and said never in a million years. I didn’t think I wanted to work with kids, and I was sort of revolting against working in education since that’s what pretty much all of the women in my family have done/currently do. I just wasn’t going to work in a school, period.

Well, fast forward to the end of grad school in 2012…when I’m realizing that all of my research has been related to working with teens. I needed to be done with school, so I just pushed the feelings down and graduated. Then I worked for a year at a domestic violence shelter and through that process got to go into my old high school to work with middle school girls. I loved it. That experience pretty much solidified my decision that I needed to go BACK to grad school to get a school counseling license. Thankfully I had a ton of support and encouragement, and now here I am!

Now if we’re talking non-realistic, jobs, then I’d LOVE to own a bar/resort that has live music. I love live music in small venues and I think it would be the most fun job ever. It will never happen, but it would be something I’d really enjoy. For a nerdy dream job, I’d also love to be a book editor. Getting paid to read –  what could be better?!

I can’t say I give too many hugs as a high school counselor, but otherwise it’s me! Haha.

movies & kindness

Day 5 – Favorite movies you never get sick of watching

Something Borrowed

When Harry Met Sally

Those are probably the only two I could watch anytime and not be sick of them. I could literally watch them two days in a row and not even care.

Day 6 – Your last random act of kindness

I don’t know that I can remember a “random” act of kindness that I’ve done… but I feel like I do acts of kindness every day. Maybe I’ll have to come up with some random acts I can start doing. 🙂

happiness & memories

Day 3 – What makes you happy?

Helping other people. Seeing my niece and nephew. Music. Writing. Drunk dancing. Hugs from the little ones. My kitties. Working out. Cooking. Feeling like I make a difference. Church. Sleeping. Photography. To-do lists. Planners.

Day 4 – Best childhood memory

My memory is REALLY bad. I have lots of good memories with my family and friends, whether it was sporting events, trips, or just hanging out together. Some highlights were camping trips, Mackinac Island, Disney World, Badger games, basketball tournaments, trips to Grandparents houses, sleepovers, and many other random memories.

my attempt at writing again… day 1

I’ve decided it’s time that I start writing again. I always feel better when I do, and I’ve taken about a 2 year hiatus, give or take about 3 posts. So here I go. I googled “30 Day Writing Challenge” and just picked one at random – which actually has 31 days so it’ll keep me going for an extra day.

Day 1 – Self Portrait and 5 Random Facts About Yourself

  1. It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, but I couldn’t be happier with my career choice.
  2. I hate leaving the house and coming home to dirty dishes in the sink.
  3. I love to cook and bake, especially for other people — but I’m always worried it tastes bad and people are just being nice about it.
  4. I love music and wish I could play more instruments and sing – not just to myself when I’m in the car.
  5. I’m about half way to becoming a crazy cat lady, even though I’m allergic.
