30 Day Song Challenge: Days 21-22

Day 21: A song you listen to when you’re happy. I know I already devoted an entire post to Foxy Shazam, but I love them so much I’m just going to use another song. Whenever I listen to this album, I just get a smile on my face that won’t quit. Even though I don’t necessarily listen to them when I’m happy (although I’m almost always usually pretty happy), listening to Foxy Shazam can always put me in a good mood. Enjoy some “Unstoppable” and put a smile on.

Day 22: A song you listen to when you’re sad. For some reason, when I’m sad, I like to listen to Matt Nathanson. I love his music and love listening to it all the time, but this song always seems to be on my list when I’m feeling down. I think it’s just the way his voice sounds and the story the song tells. So, the song I listen to when I’m sad is “Bulletproof Weeks” by Matt Nathanson.

30 Day Song Challenge: Days 19-20

Day 19: A song from your favorite album. So……. I think I’ve clearly stated that I don’t have “favorite” albums or songs, but apparently someone doesn’t understand that. So, I’ll choose a song from one of the many albums I like. I don’t think Straylight Run ever got very popular, but I love them and this entire album is amazing. I like pretty much all of the songs, so I’ll just pick “The Tension and the Terror” as my song for the day.

Day 20: A song that you listen to when you’re angry. When do I ever get angry? Haha. Now on the rare occasion that I am mad, I have a few certain songs that do the trick for me. Back when I used to be angry all the time, I listened to a lot of My Chemical Romance, so I think I’ll go that route. I remember being an angst-y teenager and cranking this song on my discman or stereo whenever I was in a cranky mood. When I’m mad, I always need something loud that I can yell to, and this song always did the trick for me. Now it seems kind of stupid, but back then I was loving it. I still love MCR, but now it just seems like this song fits better with being sad, rather than angry, but hey, as a teenager it worked.

30 Day Song Challenge: Days 17-18

Day 17: A song that you hear often on the radio. I don’t really listen to the radio much, but whenever I do listen, I always seem to hear this song. And I love it! I’ll go ahead and put the unedited version on here because it’s so much better, but they don’t say “fuck” on the radio. “Fuck You” by Cee Lo Green.

Day 18: A song you wish you heard on the radio. New favorite song and I can’t even help it. “Inside Out” by Britney Spears. I can’t really describe why I like it so much but it just makes me smile. I only wish I could hear it all the time. Yay Britney!

30 Day Song Challenge: Days 14-16

Day 14: A song no one would expect you to love. “Absent In Death” by Coalesce. The purpose of using this song isn’t specifically just because I like this song, but also as just a general concept. I like metal. And also harder rock music. For those few people who actually really know me, this isn’t a surprise, but the reason I chose this song is because to most people, I don’t look like someone who would be into something like this. At all. I look “So J Crew.” But, to all you non-believers, believe it, because it’s true. I do like a wide variety of music, metal included. Thanks to you, Roni. 🙂

Day 15: A song that describes you. Ok, so this one was hard. I contemplated between “Kill” by Jimmy Eat World and “China Doll” by Raine Maida for a long time. Basically because I liked parts of each song. Then I thought of doing “Crazy Bitch” by Buckcherry… only because whenever it comes on at a bar I get told, “Hey, it’s your song!” Despite these awesome choices, I went with “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks… not only because it’s a great song that I had completely forgotten about until like 2 days ago, but also because it sort of fits. I’m not exactly a bitch, but I guess at times I can be a few different things and hard for some people to figure out. So, listen to this song and enjoy a little blast from the past.

Day 16: A song you used to love and now you hate. Sorry Owl City lovers… but it’s gotta be “Fireflies.” To be fair, the reason I don’t like this song anymore is because it reminds me of something/someone that was dumb. Just one of those songs that whenever it comes up I have to change it.

30 Day Song Challenge: Days 12-13

Day 12: A song from a band you hate. This one is EASY. I’ve been thinking about it a lot actually, because whenever I have my ipod or iTunes on shuffle, this stupid band always comes up and I have NO IDEA how they managed to get on my computer in the first place. All I know is that I would have never put it on my computer myself, so someone else must have, but I have no memory of anyone ever uploading anything. It’s a mystery. And a damn annoying mystery. Especially because it seems like their songs come up way more often than anything else. One of these days I’ll get around to deleting them so I don’t have to be annoyed all the time. So, on that note, the song from a band I hate is “Every Morning” by Sugar Ray. I can almost not even stand to look it up on YouTube to post it, just because I’ll likely have to hear some of the stupid song. Ugh.

Day 13: A song that is a guilty pleasure. I don’t know if this qualifies as a “guilty pleasure” but I love this song…and I know most everyone else hates it. I’ve given up playing it at Market cause I usually get dirty looks when I do. I can’t really explain why I love it, I just do. It puts a smile on my face and makes me wanna sing it. So, my guilty pleasure song is “Faith” by George Michael. (although I like the Limp Bizkit version too)

30 Day Song Challenge: Days 9-11

Day 9: A song you can dance to. I dance to a lot of songs, but this one instantly came to mind. I remember the first time I heard it in Winona and I got all excited to dance it out. But, apparently no one in this town knows that this isn’t a song you grind to, it’s one that you do the steps. Stupid. Nonetheless, I still love this song. I’ve just learned that to enjoy it, I need to be in Wisconsin where people actually know the moves. 🙂 So, a song I can dance do: “Cupid Shuffle” by Cupid.

Day 10: A song that makes you fall asleep. I chose “Crystalised” by the xx, not because this song is boring and makes me sleepy, but because the entire album is just chill and relaxed. Whenever I listen to it, I just want to lay there and soak it in… which often leads me to napping.

Day 11: A song from your favorite band. This one is tough because I don’t really have any overwhelming “favorite” bands. I’ll use “Another Heart Calls” by All American Rejects because I’ve loved the band for years and I don’t think this song gets the recognition it deserves. The video I have for it is from a live show with the lead singer from Vedera, a little known band that I was lucky enough to see in concert a few years ago. She is really talented and the band is just starting to become known.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 8

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 8 A song you know all the words to. The answer to this one is: basically every song I love, and some I hate. So since I can’t post every song I know all the words to, because that would just be ridiculous, I’ll use “The Cave” by Mumford & Sons, because they’re another one of my favorite bands.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 7

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 7. A song that reminds you of a certain event.

When I started to look at the list for this thing, this one excited me. Instantly a million things popped into my head. There are so many songs that take me back and remind me of happy, sad, silly, and crazy times I had over the years. I thought I could use “Night Drive” by Jimmy Eat World, which reminds me of staying out after curfew, sitting on my gravel road after prom one year. I could use “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus and talk about how awesome it was to hear that at Shenans and have all the bros who think they’re hot shit singing it word for word. (HILARIOUS, by the way). Or I could go with “Fuck You” by Lily Allen, which mostly makes me think of Larryfest. BUT – I chose to go with one song that reminds me of many many good times. “Your Love is My Drug” by Ke$ha reminds me of being at Shenans with my ladies when this song came on. Screaming all the words and busting out the awesome “rap” section = awesome. It reminds me of Larryfest and my beloved Beardman from last summer, because after all, I “liked his beard.” It also reminds me of many spectacular sing-alongs after a night out, since this always makes the playlist. Whenever this song comes up on my iTunes or iPod, I can’t help but laugh to myself and soak it in. I know a lot of people probably hate this song, but to those people I just have one question: Do you wanna have a slumber party in my basement?

30 Day Song Challenge: Days 3-6

Day 3: A song that makes you happy. There are so many songs that make me happy it’s tough to narrow it down. This song reminds me of summer… it just has a summery feel, and right now there’s nothing I need more than for summer to be here and for this semester to be over. So, my song that makes me happy is “All Over Now” by Eric Hutchinson.

Day 4: A song that makes you sad. Until a few months ago, I didn’t even know this song existed. One day on my lunch break I was sitting outside and it came up randomly on my ipod. Ever since, I’ve been hooked. It does make me sad, but it’s also such a great song. And Keith Urban is dreamy, so I can’t really be mad at him for making me sad. “Stupid Boy” by Keith Urban

Day 5: A song that reminds you of someone. Either my brain isn’t working or this is a really hard one! I couldn’t narrow it down to any one person, so this song just reminds me of all of my best girlfriends. It reminds me of being in Eau Claire and hitting up Water St, all of us together before we started moving away. And we are pretty much all sexy bitches. 🙂 “Sexy Chick” by David Guetta ft Akon.

Day 6: A song that reminds you of somewhere. This song reminds me of home. Even though I rarely miss it, when I go months without being there I start to. Sometimes there’s just nothing better than walking down that gravel road towards nothing, or going down to my favorite spots to just sit and think. “Dirty Road Anthem” by Jason Aldean.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 2

Day 2: My least favorite song…

This was also pretty tough, cause there’s only a few songs I really really hate. Ever since I started having to go to junior high dances and weddings, I’ve never been able to tolerate this song. I usually leave the room when it comes on or at the very least find something to occupy my time so I don’t have to listen to it, or god forbid, dance to it. This can say with absolute honesty that this song will NOT be played at my wedding.
